Marcus Wallenberg Prize
The purpose of the Prize is to recognize, encourage and stimulate pathbreaking scientific achievements which contribute significantly to broadening knowledge and to technical development within the fields of importance to forestry and forest industries.
The Prize is awarded to individuals or groups normally of 2-3. Every year up to 500 organizations around the world are invited to nominate candidates for the Prize.
Examples of fields of importance to forestry and forest industries:
- Forestry: genetics, systematics and tree breeding; silviculture and agroforestry; forest ecology and tree physiology; biometrics, computing and remote sensing; forest management, forest protection and forestry operations.
- Forest Products Industries: forest products including wood and wood processing; papermaking fibres; paper and paper board and processes for their manufacture; the recycling of forest products and innovations to improve their use and environmental performance.
