IUFRO Regional Congresses
Within each five-year IUFRO Board period at least one IUFRO Regional Congress is held in a given region. IUFRO Regional Congresses aim to promote and strengthen science collaboration related to forests and trees within specific regions.
The aims of Regional Congresses are to:
- Address research needs and priorities related to forests and trees in a regional context;
- Promote quality research and interdisciplinary cooperation within a region;
- Maintain the momentum of IUFRO activities in the periods between IUFRO World Congresses;
- Promote the participation of scientists and scientific organizations as well as students in global and regional IUFRO activities;
- Strengthen the links between the scientific community and policy makers as well as stakeholders nationally and regionally;
Through these aims, IUFRO Regional Congresses help to implement the mission and aims of IUFRO in defined geographical areas.
