Membership of IUFRO is open to any academic, governmental, non-governmental, or commercial institution, and any individual concerned with the promotion, support or conduct of research related to forests, forest management and forest products.

As IUFRO member you are eligible to act as IUFRO officeholder and to have your say in IUFRO policy as your country’s representative of IUFRO’s International Council.
- Support for Developing Countries
The Special Programme for Developing Countries (IUFRO SPDC) enables members in developing countries to obtain travel support to join IUFRO scientific events and training workshops. IUFRO members in developing countries receive IUFRO training materials and IUFRO publications free of charge.

According to IUFRO's Internal Regulations, the basic annual membership fee for Member Organizations is based on the adapted World Bank classification of economies.
