IUFRO News, Vol. 37, Issue 2, Febuary 2008

IUFRO News 2, 2008 presents two new IUFRO Occasional Papers: No. 20 “Communicating Forest Science: A Daily Task”, and No 21 “Adaptations of Forests to Climate Change: A Multidisciplinary Review”. This review serves as background document for the Expert Panel on Adaptation of Forests to Climate Change assembled by IUFRO in the framework of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests’ Joint Initiative on Forest Science and Technology. The February newsletter also reports on the International IUFRO Plantation Certification Symposium 2007 in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and lists upcoming events. The sad news is that Walter Bitterlich from Austria, who revolutionized forest inventory methods, and Ted Hillis from Australia, who was Honorary Member of IUFRO, passed away.
