IUFRO News issue 5 of 2009 informs about the presentation of the global assessment report on "Adaptation of Forests and People to Climate Change" to UNFF8. This report is the first product of the Global Forest Expert Panels (GFEP) coordinated by IUFRO through the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF). The UNFF welcomed the report and adopted a resolution on forests in a changing environment taking into account several key messages of the assessment report. In addition to announcements and the events calendar, this issue also introduces a "Students' column" with information from and about the International Forestry Students' Association (IFSA).
