In this issue you will read about the results of the latest IUFRO assessment report of international forest governance presented at the 9th session of the United Nations Forum on Forests held in New York from 24 January to 4 February 2011. You will also find a report from the IUFRO symposium on "Short Rotation Forestry: Synergies for Wood Production and Environmental Amelioration" that took place from 10-12 February 2011, in Ludhiana, India, and was followed by a succesful IUFRO-SPDC Training Workshop on "Working Effectively at the Interface of Forest Science and Forest Policy". The issue is rounded off, among other things, by announcements of a wide range of publications, vacancies, courses and meetings.
