IUFRO News Vol. 40, Issue 3, March 2011

More than 50 members of the IUFRO Enlarged Board from 24 countries met in Vienna, Austria, for the 50th IUFRO Board Meeting. The one-day business meeting was followed by a two-day scientific seminar to discuss how the six key research goals of IUFRO could be attained. Among other things, the Board appointed IUFRO-SPDC Coordinator Michael Kleine as new Deputy Executive Director and welcomed Jan Heino as IUFRO's new Development Officer. This issue also reports about a recent workshop on COST Action 639:"Greenhouse Gas Budgets of Soils under Changing Climate and Land Use", and includes a Call for Bids for hosting the IUFRO World Congress in 2019.
