For 2002-2003, APAFRI with the Working Group established a Malaysian Dipterocarp Specialist Network, which acts as a platform for diptercarps researchers in Malaysia to share information. The Round Table Conference is a triennial affair and it has been held since the late 1980s.

In October 2002, APAFRI in collaboration with a number of agencies the Seventh Round Table Conference on Dipterocarp was organized from 7–10 October 2002 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Quite a few participants from countries other than Malaysia, have indicated their desire to join the network. As such, we would like to expand our network
outside of Malaysia. All the participants from this International Conference have been included in the network and could share all the available information. Conference report (PDF)

In 2005 the 8th Round table conference was successfully convened in Hanoi Vietnam from 14-16th November, 2005. The details of this meeting are reported here. Prior to this conference, two side meetings were held. One on 4th of March, 2005 in conjunction with the 17th Commonwealth Forestry Conference held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 28th February to 5th March, 2005.  The other was jointly organized with APAFRI during their satellite meeting at the XX11 IUFRO World Congress in Brisbane.

The proceedings of the 7th Round Table Conference are available in a printed format while the 8th Round Table Conference is available on a CD format.

9th Round Table to be organized in either Indonesia or India in 2008. (yet to be included in the Calender of Meetings)
