Integrating approaches (intensive/extensive management  and conservation) to achieve multiple goals in a sustainable manner, more specifically achieving a balance between production and preservation.  The emphasis will remain on forest and outside forest areas to meet the wood based demands through short rotation forestry.

• Towards agroecological  and economic health: diversifying traditional crop rotation through agroforestry
• Carbon sequestration potential of agroforestry/farmforestry.
• Production potential of exotic species in agroforestry and farm forestry plantations, and their improvement.   
• Sustainable rehabilitation of degraded lands through short rotation forestry.
