Foresters in many countries are today faced with the problem that very little experience is available on the feasibility, appropriate management options and the likely outcomes and consequences of transformation of even-aged monocultures to uneven-aged continuous cover forests. Transformation management is a complex task which not only affects forest growth, nutrient budgets and forest ecology but also forest economics and planning. The objective of this working unit is to prepare and maintain an international communication platform for scientists who are specifically interested in generating treatment options for Transformation Forest Management and assessing their consequences. Close cooperation is planned with IUFRO 1.14 Uneven-aged Silviculture.
