About Unit

The wood quality research group is home to a variety of interests that encompass studies of the formation of wood as well as studies on the end use requirements of wood. All, however, have a common goal of understanding the fundamental properties of an important biological material, how the environment and other factors influence these properties, how these properties may be influenced by a changing wood resource, and how these properties influence the utilization of the material. The ultimate goal of such knowledge is the sustainable and efficient utilization of our precious (and changing) wood resource.
The research group is made up of five working parties:

5.01.01 Biological control of wood quality
5.01.02 Natural variations in wood quality
5.01.04 Wood quality modelling
5.01.06 Wood quality from intensive management
5.01.07 Tree ring analysis
