Meetings are intended to be informal, relaxed, and fun and many have produced proceedings. (See LINKS below).
I will long remember the jointly held meeting with the Royal Entomological Society in Aberdeen, Scotland when 9-11 occurred. The shock and uncertainty made it difficult being away from family & home, and I felt further isolated because almost all flights to North America were delayed or cancelled. But it was incredible how well attendees supported each other in this moment of crisis. It seemed like one big family!
