The focus of Unit 8.01.06 overlaps to a large extent with the activities within IBFRA (International Boreal Forest Research Association). It has therefore been decided to coordinate future activities as much as possible. The Unit will arrange workshops in the years between IBFRA conferences, i.e. every second year, and at the IBFRA congresses organise one of the post-conference excursions.
The first workshops following this schedule, will take place in Sweden, in August 2012, and a post-conference excursion will be organised for the XVIth IBFRA conference to be held in Canada 2013. The preliminary plan for upcoming workshops to be organised by the Unit is Canada in 2014 and Iceland in 2016.
Upcoming IUFRO meetings
- A workshop on "A challenging future for the Boreal forests – Can all demands be met?" will be held in northern Sweden, 12–19 August 2012. The announcement with a detailed programme of the workshop is forthcoming. Contact: sune.linder(at)slu.se
