8.02.05 – Wildlife conservation and management

It is this Unit's mission to develop and promote initiatives for conservation and management of wild species and habitats in the forested ecosystems.

Worldwide, increasing pressures on forested ecosystems and landscapes from unsustainable resource use, industrialization, agricultural expansion and development projects continues to deplete the wild species population and degrade their habitats. There is a need to develop inclusive, progressive and comprehensive strategies by effectively combining knowledge, dialogue and action in order to effectively conserve and manage the wild species and their habitats.
