Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR)

CIFOR has offices in Brazil, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, India, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and it works in over 30 other countries around the world.
Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO)
FAO is one of the largest specialized agencies of the United Nations, established to raise levels of nutrition and standards of living, to improve agricultural productivity, and to better the conditions of rural populations. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information, helping developing countries and countries in transition to modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices and ensure good nutrition.
World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF)
ICRAF was established to promote agroforestry research in developing countries around the world, seeking to improve human welfare by reducing poverty, improving food and nutritional security, and enhancing environmental resilience in the tropics. ICRAF uses science to promote knowledge on the complex role of trees on livelihoods and the environments, and foster use of this knowledge to improve decisions and practices impacting on the poor.
International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO)
IUFRO is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of forest scientists. Its objectives are to promote international cooperation in forest-related research and enhance the understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests and trees. The organization disseminates scientific knowledge to stakeholders and decision-makers and contributes to forest policy and on-the-ground forest management.
The United Nations Forum on Forests Secretariat (UNFF)
UNFF was established with the objective of promoting the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests and to strengthen long term political commitments to this goal. The forum is composed of all member states of the United Nations and specialized agencies.
