  • Forest Day
Together with CIFOR and other partner organizations, IUFRO serves as co-host of Forest Day. Forest Day provides an international, multi-stakeholder forum on forest and climate change policies at global, national and local levels. Forest Day was convened for the first time on the occasion of COP-13 in Bali, Indonesia, in order to inform the discussions related to forests under negotiation at the Bali Climate Conference. Forest Day was attended by more than 800 participants, comprising both forest and climate experts.

Following the success of the first Forest Day in Bali, another Forest Day is currently under preparation by CIFOR in collaboration with IUFRO and other CPF members, coinciding with UNFCCC COP14. This Forest Day 2 will, among others, provide an opportunity to present and discuss key findings of the assesssment report under preparation by the Expert Panel, to highlight ongoing research, as well as to share practical experiences gained with adaptation of forests and forest dependent people.

Information about Forest Day 2 is available on the CIFOR web site: http://www.cifor.cgiar.org/Events/COP14-ForestDay/forest_day2008.htm
