The theme "Forest for People" will be addressed by two conferences and related publications. The goal for both conferences is to build a systematic body of knowledge about the relationship between forests and people in all its facets, including future trends and challenges.
Ulrike Pröbstl will organize the conference in Europe. Perry Brown will organize the meeting in Kenya. For the required steering committee we asked the 9 Divisions to name interested members.
Target audiences for the conferences are:
2012: Discussion on lessons learned from the two conferences and possible aspects which should be strengthened and analysed in 2013 by separate groups.
2013: Discussion how to implement the findings and results into the publication strategy in cooperation with the IUFRO Board and the new IUFRO publisher.
2014: Preparation of the main findings at the IUFRO World Congress and presentation.
