Center for Biodiversity and Indigenous Knowledge

CBIK is a participatory learning organization, dedicated to biodiversity conservation and community livelihood development, as well as documentation of indigenous knowledge and technical innovations related to resource governance at community and watershed levels. Forest Peoples Programme (FPP)

Advocates an alternative vision of how forests should be managed and controlled, based on respect for the rights of the peoples who know them best. The Programme works with forest peoples in South America, Central Africa, South and South East Asia, and Central Siberia to help these communities secure their rights, build up their own organisations and negotiate with governments and companies as to how economic development and conservation is best achieved on their lands. Global Caucus on Community Based Forest Management

International Alliance of Indigenous and Tribal Peoples of Tropical Forests (IAITPTF)

A worldwide network of organisations representing indigenous and tribal peoples living in tropical forest regions (Africa, the Asia-Pacific and the Americas). The Alliance was founded in 1992 during an indigenous conference in Malaysia, where the Charter of the Alliance was adopted, and has been fighting continuously for the rights of indigenous and tribal peoples ever since. Italian Research Center on Traditional and Local Knowledge (IPOGEA)

Ipogea carries out activities concerning the safeguarding, enhancement, research and training in historic centres, archaeological and environment restoration as well as ecosystem protection. Ipogea is recognised by the European Union as the body par excellence for the safeguard and the enhancement of European Cultural Heritage. Society for Ecological Restoration (SERI) – Indigenous Peoples’ Restoration Network.

The Indigenous Peoples' Restoration Network's (IPRN) mission is: to support native and tribal communities in need of technical assistance for environmental restoration and cultural rehabilitation, and to assist leaders and practitioners in their efforts to apply traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) within  their own vision of political, economic, and cultural sovereignty. College of Menominee Nation – Sustainable Development Institute (SDI)

SDI is dedicated to examining sustainability issues and applying them to the Menominee model of sustainable development. The Institute has a tandem mission and serves as the mechanism by which the Menominee reflect on their own relationship to their forested homelands and disseminate their expertise, experience, and knowledge of sustainability into new sectors of the economy. UNESCO – Local and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (LINKS)

The LINKS project builds dialogue amongst traditional knowledge holders, natural and social scientists, resource managers and decision-makers to enhance biodiversity conservation and secure an active and equitable role for local communities in resource governance. It seeks to strengthen knowledge transmission between elders and youth, and explores pathways to balance community-based knowledge with global knowledge in formal and non-formal education. The United Nations University – Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) – Pilot Research Programme on Traditional Knowledge                                               
                                                                                                
The UNU-IAS conducts research, postgraduate education and capacity development, both in-house and in cooperation with an interactive network of academic institutions and international organizations. Its pilot research programme on traditional knowledge (TK) is being led by UNU-IAS as part of the process towards establishment of a permanent UNU Research and Training Centre on TK.
