The Collaborative Partnership on Sustainable Wildlife Management (CPW) is a voluntary partnership of 14 international organizations with substantive mandates and programmes to promote the sustainable use and conservation of wildlife resources. IUFRO has been one of the 14 partner organizations since CPW's establishment in 2013.

Together with CIFOR, IUFRO represents forest-related research and the respective scientific community in this partnership. As a member of the CPW, IUFRO plays a role in informing and shaping international programmes and policies related to the sustainable management of wildlife. IUFRO representatives regularly participate in CPW meetings and contribute to CPW activities.

Joint activities:

  • IUFRO was involved in the preparation of CPW’s Wildlife Forum in September 2021 and participated in the event, https://www.cpwwildlifeforum.com.
  • IUFRO contributed to CPW’s input to the discussions of the post-2020 biodiversity framework of the CBD throughout the year 2021.
  • IUFRO contributed to the development of the CPW Joint Statement “The COVID-19 Challenge: Zoonotic diseases and wildlife” in 2020, https://www.fao.org/3/cb1163en/cb1163en.pdf
