This issue of IUFRO-Japan News will give you an overview of the latest major events held by IUFRO: the IUFRO Asia-Oceania Regional Congress, the IUFRO Division 3 Doctoral Student Conference, Abies 2016 and others. It highlights the launch of the latest GFEP Global Rapid Response Report on "Illegal Logging and Related Timber Trade - Dimensions, Drivers, Impacts and Responses" at CBD COP13 in Cancún, Mexico. At the same conference, IUFRO-SPDC was involved in the Forest Landscape and Ecosystem Restoration Day at CBD COP13 and organized a session there. IUFRO Executive Director Alexander Buck explains in an article how the implementation of the CBD Aichi Biodiversity Targets is to be advanced.

The IUFRO-Japan (IUFRO-J) Committee (http://www.ffpri.affrc.go.jp/labs/iufroj/index_Eng.html) is an organization launched in 1970 to promote global and domestic partnerships in forest-related research, which cooperates with IUFRO Headquarters.
