Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure-Track or Tenured) Industrial Ecology/Sustainability Engineering // 31 October 2018
The Department of Wood Science (Faculty of Forestry) at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Industrial Ecology/Sustainability Engineering. Applicants must have demonstrated the clear potential to achieve excellence in research and teaching in the area of renewable resources and their sustainability. Possible focus areas include, but are not limited to, life-cycle assessment and the bioeconomy; sustainable engineering; material flow analysis; energy systems (energy engineering); industrial ecology; design for the environment and sustainability (eco-design); renewable materials and energy flow (industrial metabolism); industrial symbiosis and the circular economy; and product-oriented environmental policy and legislation. Applicants should have a completed PhD degree in Chemical and/or Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Ecology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences and Management, or a related field, and have demonstrated a proven record or potential in relevant research and teaching. In cases where the primary graduate degree is not in Industrial Ecology, candidates holding certificates in Industrial Ecology or similar, will be prioritized. The successful candidate will engage in undergraduate and graduate education, develop a research program, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration within the Department and the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing, and engage with other departments within UBC, relevant national and international research communities, the wood products industry, and developing bioeconomy companies.Institution: Department of Wood Science, Faculty of Forestry, University of British Columbia (UBC)
