Postdoc Position on Forest Pathology of Swiss Needle Cast // until filled
A postdoctoral scholar position (1.0 FTE; 12-months) is available in the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management at Oregon State University. The position provides a competitive stipend and health insurance for two years with a possibility of a one-year extension and funding subject to satisfactory performance and funding (https://gradschool.oregonstate.edu/postdocs/appointment-and-recruitment). This position will have three primary responsibilities: (i) development of screening strategies to evaluate resistance to Swiss Needle Cast (SNC) in Douglas-fir seedlings; (ii) population genomic analysis to help understand disease epidemiology and spread; (iii) evaluation of management strategies to mitigate SNC impacts on growth and yield. The successful applicant with be expected to work collaboratively with State, Industry, and Federal partners. The applicant will lead work in the lab, greenhouse and field. In addition, the incumbent will conduct data analysis, manuscript, and grant proposal writing. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine silviculture, molecular biology, and disease resistance breeding to impact management of SNC across forest land in the Pacific Northwest.Institution: College of Forestry, Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management, Oregon State University
