The workshop on "Mechanized and efficient silviculture" in Suonenjoki, Finland, on November 25-26, aimed at presenting ongoing research related to mechanized silviculture in the Nordic and Baltic countries and discussed future research needs.
The conference on "Conservation of forest genetic resources in Siberia" in Barnaul, Russia, focused on developing an efficient scientific strategy for the protection and sustainable use of forest genetic resources in Siberia, the Ural Mountains and the Far East.
The meeting on "Frankia and Actinorhizal Plants" in Montpellier, France, discussed Frankia physiology and genomic approaches; actinorhizal plants physiology and genomic approaches; symbiotic signalling and functioning of actinorhiza; and ecology and contribution of actinorhizal plants to soil productivity and rehabilitation.
