Under the umbrella of the Forestry Research Network of Sub-Saharan Africa (FORNESSA) and with support of IUFRO-SPDC a group of African scientists compiled a scientific synthesis based on case studies of land rehabilitation from all major ecological regions in Western- Eastern and Southern Africa covering "dry", "humid" and "sub-humid" forests and woodlands.

The initiative aims at demonstrating the added value of scientific output that can be achieved through enhanced collaboration and information sharing among scientists working in different countries and environments.
