The International Wood Culture Society (IWCS) is a non-profit, non-governmental, international network of wood enthusiasts, dedicated to the research, education and promotion of wood culture founded in 2007.

Collaboration with IUFRO has been mainly for the World Wood Day celebrations through scientific symposia co-organized by IUFRO Units and through joint communication activities.

The idea and concept of the World Wood Day event was first introduced by the International Wood Culture Society (IWCS) and has subsequently been sponsored by the World Wood Day Foundation (WWDF). The inaugural celebration (2013) of WWD was held in Tanzania and its conclusion spurred the initiation and ultimately the establishment of the World Wood Day Foundation. WWD is celebrated every year around 21 March.

Both organizations (IWCS and WWDF) also participated at IUFRO World Congresses. Some officeholders of IUFRO Division 5 also hold positions in IWCS and WWDF.
