In 2009, the Global Forest Expert Panels started publishing global assessments on key issues of high concern related to forests. One of IUFRO's Science-Policy Programme workstreams is focused on conducting Follow-up Studies of those previously published global assessments, reviewing and updating them through a thorough process.

• The second Follow-up Study addressed  International Forest Governance and was published in May 2024 during the nineteenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF19).
   
• The first Follow-up Study was published in 2022 and summarized the latest available knowledge on the effects of REDD+ implementation.
