Annual Report 2019
In 2019 we celebrated the strength and vitality of our network at the XXV IUFRO World Congress in Curitiba, the first ever IUFRO World Congress held in Latin America.
In 2020 the world is all of a sudden struggling with an unprecedented global pandemic. This would have made a World Congress and many other IUFRO activities simply impossible.
In these difficult times we are more than ever called to address the mounting global challenges, including, among others, climate change, land degradation, biodiversity loss and biological invasions.
The global forest science community represented by IUFRO already has the knowledge needed to face many of these challenges. In order to realize our full potential to translate this knowledge into the sustainable solutions that the world needs and is increasingly demanding, greater efforts are needed to harness the expertise, experience and creativity within our network through greater integration of scientists and IUFRO Member Organizations. We look forward to strengthening our network and expanding our collaboration with partners in the future.
