Christensen Fund

The Christensen Fund’s mission is to buttress the efforts of people and institutions who believe in a biodiverse world infused with artistic expression and work to secure ways of life and landscapes that are beautiful, bountiful and resilient.  This mission is pursued through place-based work in regions chosen for their potential to withstand and recover from the global erosion of diversity. The Christensen Fund supports the efforts of locally-recognized community custodians of this heritage, and their alliances with scholars, artists, advocates and others. It also funds international efforts to build global understanding of these issues.  The Fund works primarily through grant making, as well as through capacity and network building, knowledge generation, collaboration and mission-related investments.

Forest Peoples Programme (FPP)

Advocates an alternative vision of how forests should be managed and controlled, based on respect for the rights of the peoples who know them best. The Programme works with forest peoples in South America, Central Africa, South and South East Asia, and Central Siberia to help these communities secure their rights, build up their own organisations and negotiate with governments and companies as to how economic development and conservation is best achieved on their lands. The United Nations University - Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) - Pilot Research Programme on Traditional Knowledge

The UNU-IAS conducts research, postgraduate education and capacity development, both in-house and in cooperation with an interactive network of academic institutions and international organizations. Its pilot research programme on traditional knowledge (TK) is being led by UNU-IAS as part of the process towards establishment of a permanent UNU Research and Training Centre on TK. The UNU TK Institute will explore the threats to TK, methods to maintain TK, the resilience of TK systems, consider the links between conventional and indigenous scientific systems and some of the important questions this raises both in terms of research and capacity development.  Website: http://tkbulletin.wordpress.com/
