There is a need for global understanding of the core competences that forest experts require in the modern working life. Some countries and regions have accreditations for forester education. The standards therein provide a systematic basis for the textbook project. However, the IUFRO Forest Education Research Group wants to take one step further: to make a textbook, both traditional and online versions, which covers dynamic elements such as assignments and ways to do networking among subject and pedagogical specialist all around the world. In this event, we will do some brainstorming about "Forest Sciences online textbook". Please feel free to send the invitation forward.

About Unit

The main IUFRO activities related to forest education carried out under the Joint IUFRO-IFSA Task Force (JTF) on Forest education.  Please visit www.iufro.org/science/task-forces/forest-education/ or the Global Outlook on Forest Education blog: https://foresteducation.wordpress.com/.

Quality of education and further education play a key role for the quality of research as well as practical work in forestry. Therefore it is essential to deal with measures of raising the quality of education and with methods to evaluate the success of education and further education. This is a field for research as well as implementation. It will be covered by Research Group 6.15.00 within IUFRO Division VI, which was established after the IUFRO World Congress 1995 in Tampere, and is now Research Group 6.09.00.
