Latin America FLR Training Workshop: “Creando capacidades en restauración del paisaje forestal en América Latina”

This online workshop in Spanish on FLR implementation in Latin America took place from 31 May to 25 June 2021 with participation by 30 early career scientists and professionals from 11 countries in Latin America (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Panamá, Paraguay and Perú). Various organisations contributed expertise and experiences in FLR through provision of presentations and training material and included the World Resources Institute (WRI), the International Forestry Students Association (IFSA) and their regional associates as well as the IUFRO-IFSA Joint Task Force on Forest Education.

The learning objectives of the training workshop were defined to:

  • understand the global context for Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) and the complexity of its implementation in the local context in LAC;
  • become familiar with the FLR process as an intervention into socio-ecological systems; and
  • discuss and test innovative approaches to teaching and communicating FLR implementation.
