Position Announcements
Professor (all ranks) and Lecturer Positions in Indigenous Land Stewardship // 24 March 2024
The Faculty of Forestry at the UBC Vancouver campus is delighted to announce that they will be hiring several new faculty members to join the existing team at the new Centre of Indigenous Land Stewardship (CILS). A number of different positions are available, including sessional lecturer, lecturer, tenure-track professor of teaching (all ranks) and tenure-track professor (all ranks). The lecturer positions may be full or part-time. CILS aspires to be a global centre of excellence, bringing Indigenous Peoples' knowledge and land ethics together with natural resource science and management. By openly sharing information and ideas, land stewardship systems will be built that are grounded in holistic land stewardship and earth-based community values. Besides other responsibilities with CILS and Faculty of Forestry, a key role for all successful applicants will be to participate in delivering the new Bachelor of Indigenous Land Stewardship (BILS) program, commencing in September 2024. This is an interdisciplinary, four-year undergraduate program created to prepare students to build and operate comprehensive land stewardship systems that are grounded in Indigenous earth-based land ethics – systems that can operate in complex inter-governmental environments and foster our next generation of land stewards. The program includes innovative and diverse courses in areas such as Indigenous ways of knowing, ecology, law and governance, economics, communication, business management, research and data management methods, and community capacity building.Institution: Faculty of Forestry, University of British Columbia (UBC)
