Annual Report 2016 – Highlights

Just published: Concise version of IUFRO Annual Report 2016 with President’s summary and outlook by Vice-Presidents now available! Full version under way!

In his summary "2016 in a Nutshell" IUFRO President Mike Wingfield looks back on the highlights of the past year, including, of course, the successful 1st IUFRO Regional Congress for Asia and Oceania held in Beijing, China, the launch of the latest GFEP study on illegal logging and related timber trade and the active cooperation with the International Forestry Students' Association (IFSA).

In their outlook chapter, IUFRO Vice-Presidents Björn Hånell and John Parrotta do not only focus on the upcoming IUFRO 125th Anniversary Congress but also outline some key areas of future forest-related research such as urban forestry and forest and landscape restoration. In doing so, they are making striking references to the holistic approaches of the exceptional 19th century scientist Alexander von Humboldt.

The full Annual Report 2016 is still in the making and should be available within the next couple of weeks.
